A setback can quickly become a judgment about yourself: I failed, I cannot do this, or I always quit. That interpretation can create more resistance than the setback itself. A more useful response is to separate the event from your identity. Something interfered with the behavior. That gives you information to work with. Persistence grows when you can respond to difficulty with curiosity, adjustment, and another attempt instead of turning one interruption into a permanent conclusion.
